The last time, old bear looked back,
Below, from the peak of hill he gazed,
The new born city flooded with light,
From long distance,whole area blazed.
Blinking his eyes, he imagined a huge fireball,
Limitless,expanding,covering vast land of forest,
Jungle of cement-concrete rising from crust of earth,
No traces of trees,no dens, empty nests.
He had seen vanishing the existence of dense forest,
Gradual,planned killing of innocent wild animals,
Brutal murder of those, who tried to run for life,
For all creatures,just to rub off life and pulse.
Two of his infants were trapped and carried away,
To be barred in the fence for site and see,
Rest were either killed,or they ran away for life,
This old bear bowed his head- "Come on,kill me'.
After long pause,he recovered from bullet shot in the leg,
He looked down the hill-a desperate look,
The gigantic city was expanding to gradually crush the forest,
Which , in future, would be in the memory, or in Jungle-book.
Dragging his feet, old bear moved into deep darkness,
Cold breeze echoed a silent mournful sigh,
An unknown, unwritten chapter was smoothly closed,
Nature faces blows from man without any cry.
Famous hill Reech-garh is now without "reech",
It is industrial complex -high chimneys,polluted air,
Animals are in photos, zoos,tales, and bars,
Is there any need of Animal, when Man is there?

I was filled with excitement,
My heart was beating fast,
Spending, span of fifty years abroad,
My heart was beating fast,
Spending, span of fifty years abroad,
I was reaching my village, at last.
I had past memories of the village,
When I was young boy of ten,
I still had a vision in my eyes,
Of that place, as it was then,
Narrow lanes, and thorny bushes,
Endless fields, fragrance of land,
Round shouldered huts, zigzag fence,
Neighboring river, and knocking sand.
Crop, as regiment, standing high,
Greenery laid on the bed of soil,
Tough farmers, with rigid figures,
Fighting their fate, in turmoil.

When I reached my native place,
I was shocked, with the series of reflex,
My vision,my village,my dreamland-
Had turned, into an industrial -complex.
My village did not exist, at all,
Dreamland was not there to define,
There was a sign- board flashing,
“National Highway Twenty- Nine.”
No forest,no huts,no village,no fields,
All vanished.beneath the dense smoke,
Virgin river dipped into jungle of concrete,
My vision? dreamland?--O,what a joke!

Hooters and sirens guided the puppets.
Highway had joined two giant metros,
To bridge the new age, by presence,
Poor tiny river had died, beneath the bridge,
To become MEMORY; beyond existence.
